i'm a resident of the marina for the last 30 years. i'm here today because there are no public comments on the meeting december 4. you will be casting an important vote to either keep the marina n&j:+ one of the most pristine urban waterfront parks in the nation, or commercialize it by converting the old navy degaussing station to a restaurant serving dhol, being able to stay open from 7 am to+ç 11 pm seven days a week. the marina green is used by hundreds of little kids from all over the city to play soccer. making it efacto the largest playground in the city. it has always been the city's policy not to allow alcohol in a public playground. these kids have not shelter from the weather, or restroom facilities. a much more sensitive use to the environment and community would be to use the degaussing station as a clubhouse for the kids so they have shelter, restroom facilities, and a place to store their equipment. if rec and park doesn't want to pay for it, even though they just received about $200 million, i would be willing to fund

my name is -- campo, i'm also living at marina boulevard. this is regarding changing degaussing station at marina green to the fish and chip restaurant and to me just like putting a hot dog stand at half storm in yosemite. it destroyed the nature. i've been walking by this place, by degaus station, for 21 years. like a gal pus island. all the bears, migratory bears, sitting on a roof. and it's such a magnificent waterfront. and changing this waterfront to the commercial restaurant is not right. besides, hundreds of kids, they play soccer on saturday, and they need parking. most of the time, the mother, they cannot find the parking, and they circle and circle. and they draw -- they just park in our driveway. so that cause a lot of trouble parking, plus the serving alcohol next to the playground, and marina green is the largest playground in the city, especially on thursday, friday, saturday. and having alcohol serve next to these kids is not fair. let's -- keep marina green like a park for everybody to enjoy, and let's notjp8a commercializet

whether it's hunters point bayview, whether it's the mission, whether it's north beach, whether it's the marina, i tell you in every single solitary space and place, i see what george moscone and harvey milk, in their existence, inspired in all of us and in the people. and, so, when we come in remembrance, it is, in my opinion, to celebrate, to celebrate the lives of two extraordinary people, one whom i knew almost as well as i know my own brother, and that was george. and the other whom i worked with just as if he was my brother in the things that we were able to achieve together. and, so, tonight, san francisco, it's not a time to be sad. it is a time to celebrate because you are the beneficiaries of an incredible productive team that has caused san francisco to be what it is. when carol migden and the troops stepped up and said, "let's do the whole business of domestic partners," and we did it on the steps of the rotunda, that was george and harvey doing that, not us. that was george and harvey doing that.
